Why I don’t give away free stuff to build my email list

Maybe I should.

I don’t know.

But I don’t like doing it. Not saying you shouldn’t… because it’s probably not the right strategy for everyone… and because I’m not your mom, lol… but here’s why I don’t:

1: I hate wasting time setting up squeeze pages.

2: And lead magnets.

3: And autoresponder sequences.

4: And everything else in between.

5: With all the time spent on setup, I could have used that time to make something to sell instead.

6: I don’t like all the time and effort it takes to turn a freebie seeker into a buyer. A lot of studies show that on average, someone new has to see your stuff anywhere from 7 to 21 times before they finally buy from you.

7: Someone who bought something to get on your list is worth 10 to 20 times more than a freebie seeker.

8: I’d rather someone pay me to get on my email list.

9: When you create low-ticket products on the front-end that people have to buy to get on your list, you can get affiliates to promote it for you, so you spend less time on traffic.

10: You can put low-ticket stuff on marketplaces like Amazon KDP and get free traffic and money (the only thing I’d recommend using marketplaces for).

11: You can afford to buy ads to a low-ticket product on your front end, because the sales pay for your ad spend. And you can scale that.

12: If your low-ticket does well, you can add an upsell later. So you can spend even more on advertising.

13: I can filter out people who don’t have credit cards.

14: I can filter out kids and people who never buy stuff.

15: To buy my stuff, you typically have to read a crazy long sales page. To get to the sales page, you have to read long emails that I syndicate out to as many platforms as I can. This helps me filter out people who HATE reading… meaning I get higher quality subscribers, because… readers are leaders!

16: It also help me filter out people who are too ADHD.

17: And people who wanna ‘get rich quick’ (they don’t have the patience to read too much).

18: I don’t put as much effort into my stuff if I’m not getting paid for it. So I need the motivation. And incentive.

19: People value what they pay for.

At any rate…

To do what I do, I need to make sure my offers convert. Else no one’s gonna buy it. And my email list doesn’t grow. And that’s one of the biggest reasons why I developed the Billion Dollar Bonus Formula.

So that I could see how likely people were gonna buy…
