Today, we talk about the important aspects of motivation, focus, and determination, and with that we’ll end our session covering the introduction to some basic principles of mindset that you will need to keep in mind throughout the course of your business.
As always, before you begin, go back to our discussion of the internet marketing mindset that we had yesterday and refresh your memory a bit by reading through it once again.
I would like to share a tip with you that I wasn’t exactly planning on sharing. Repetition helps when learning, and it can be especially powerful when you repeat your learning at specific intervals.
When you read and learn something once, it’ll stick for a very short while. Read and learn the same thing again ten minutes later, and it’ll stick for longer. Then repeat the process one hour later, one day later, one week later, one month later, and six weeks later, and that knowledge will stay quite well in your long-term memory. These are good learning intervals that you might want to bear in mind.
Also, when you are learning, it’s good to take notes with a pen and paper. Not by typing it out into your computer. It seems that people learn much better when they write the important points down with a pen or pencil. Well, it also helps you to find what you are looking for and makes it easy to refresh your learning later on too.
Now onto today’s topic…
Have you ever said or thought to yourself that you don’t feel like doing anything at all?
Well, if so, chances are that you aren’t motivating yourself enough. Motivation is something that helps to propel you forward, and keep you in excitement, looking for the next step and the possibilities of the future.
This is true whether in life or in business. You need to motivate yourself, and you need to keep yourself motivated on a regular basis.
One of the mistakes that people make is that they motivate themselves, but they don’t stay motivated. The effects of motivation is like the effects of a shower, it is nice and clean, but it doesn’t last. That’s why you have to keep doing it over and over again every day.
Whether in life or in business, the positive environment that comes with being motivated is something that you shouldn’t be without.
Now, there are a lot of things that I can say and tell you about motivation. It’s such a broad topic, and there are so many aspects perhaps. But I want to focus a bit on motivation as it relates to the online business side of things.
When you are working at a job, you have a regular salary, day in and day out. You don’t really experience things like failure much, except when you make mistakes at your job from time to time. Often when the company makes mistakes, it’s the fault of management, not yours. Overall, you don’t really feel as much as you would, because the company doesn’t belong to you. You just work there…
But when you start going into your own online business, you will experience failure, and these are failures that you are really responsible for because you own the business. Consider it as your path to personal growth. If you don’t experience failure, you don’t grow…
Failure comes, you make mistakes, you do things wrong, but what I want to tell you is not to let it get to you. Stay motivated regardless of the mistakes that you may make in your business and keep moving forward. Motivate yourself every day, motivate yourself regularly, and keep staying motivated.
You will fail a lot when it comes to learning the ropes of running your own online business. But one thing I want to tell you is that you should not fear failure or worry about making mistakes. This is something very big that holds many people back from being successful in both life and business – fear of failure.
There are things that you should be careful not to mistakes in of course, like certain areas of life and relationships. Making a mistake could be disastrous, and you have the responsibility to avoid those mistakes. I’m not talking about that though…
What I’m talking about right now is making mistakes when it comes to business and learning. If you are afraid to make mistakes when it comes to business and learning, you won’t be able to grow, and you won’t be able to succeed. It’s totally different from what you were taught in your job or in school.
At your job, if you make a mistake, you get scolded, or even put at risk of losing your job. At school, if you make mistakes, you get a red cross on your test paper and you may or may not fail the exam. Sometimes, the negativity associated with making mistakes in these types of environments have made us fear failure, and the result is that learning gets a lot harder as we grow older.
You can’t succeed in business with this type of mindset. If you look around you, you will often find that the most successful people in business are those who dropped out of their colleges or jobs in failure.
When it comes to business, especially your own online business, don’t be afraid to make mistakes because failure is the key to success. This isn’t like a job or in school where you can only do what you are told to do. There are times in your business, you’ll need to start making decisions about what you need to do. You may make mistakes, and may have great successes.
Regardless, of the situation, keep on moving forward and don’t let it get you down.
Listen… We learn from our mistakes, we gain experience from them. You need experience in order to succeed, and you need to fail to gain experience. When you fail at a particular business process, ask yourself why you failed, and move on with new experience.
When Thomas Edison was in the process of inventing the light bulb, he met with failure after failure after failure. However, he never considered it as a failure. He often said that:

Every step you find that doesn’t work just brings you closer to finding something that will work. When you think about it this way, success is inevitable. It is just a matter of time as long as you keep moving forward…
Don’t stop moving forward. If something in your business doesn’t work, leave it aside and keep going. Don’t keep on tweaking and editing it again and again in the hopes that it may one day work. And yes I am talking about business…
Well, I said that you should keep on moving forward. But some people misunderstand this.
Don’t just jump from one thing to the next without even giving it enough time to yield results. If it doesn’t yield results in the end, that’s ok. You can keep on going.
In online business, there are so many different techniques, strategies, and principles that you can learn, so much so that many people get distracted with buying course after course after course, learning one thing to the next but never taking enough time to get one thing really going.
You also need a certain amount of focus and determination. Focus and determination are really important in both business and life.
Focus can be compared to a sharp knife. Push a sharp knife through a surface, and it will push through easily. However, take a spoon and do the same thing and it won’t go through. What’s the difference? The surface of the knife is focused, concentrated entirely on one thin point.
That being said, like I said yesterday, don’t expect to be an expect at focus and concentration from day one. Just like everything else that I talk about, everything you see here you have to learn and you have to discipline yourself to put into action. It takes time, and perseverance, but never give up.
Well, today’s lesson was quite a good one. I hoped you managed to learn something, and keep these points in mind. Tomorrow, the real training starts and we will begin with some basic tips and tricks for optimizing your use of the computer.
Hey, the computer is a key part of your online business, so you will definitely need to learn how to use it to its maximum potential.
Well, I’m not giving you a lot of assignments today. The main thing I want you to do is to keep yourself motivated and inspired on a daily basis using the tips that I provided you with yesterday.
